The Packaging Source cc is a South African based Gift Packaging Manufacturing company that was started in May 2007

- with our showroom and factory located in

The Route 21 Corporate Park

at 11B Viceroy Road in Irene in Centurion.

From here we serve local corporate customers from Johannesburg, Midrand, Pretoria and surrounding areas. We also serve national customers from Eastern Western and Northern Cape,

Kwazulu Natal, and North East with all our locally made products, and we have a variety of international (African) customers from as far away as Luanda, Zimbabwe, Botswana, Lesotho,

Nigeria and other African countries.

We specialize in the manufacture and distribution of corporate and marketing gift packaging - mostly branded or custom made to specifications.

Our Products include gift boxes, rope handle gift bags, satin and organza ribbon, gift-wrap and gift tissue paper, fold-up gift boxes, organza bags and cellophane rolls. We also import raffia, angel hair and custom items like velvet bags for our customers when required.

Our product range includes standard stock items, as well as custom branded/manufactured items.

Our main clientele consist of Marketing-, events- and corporate clients. We undertake large and small packaging projects on behalf of our customers, and help them complete their gifting projects on time and with great success.

Projects that deserve mention must be our Awareness ribbon projects - we have created over 7 million awareness ribbons for a variety of awareness days over the past 4 years (branded and plain). The awareness ribbon projects we undertake provide essential seasonal part time employment to over 20 local rural women, desperate to feed their families. We intend to grow this project into a full time employment opportunity for these women, with the help of the corporate market, employment or rural training partners and our clients.

Ribbon Ladies

At the Packaging source we undertake corporate projects where we not only attend meetings where we are presented with the completed design of the packaging for the project. we are also able to give valuable input as to the viability and implementation of said designs. We then continue to the manufacture of the packaging, and often also pack the gifts or marketing items and deliver to events on behalf of the customer.

We are a popular supplier to large photo and publishing firms, for whom we make custom made photo book boxes, branded gift tissue paper and satin ribbons.

We specialize in personalized gift packaging from custom made cardboard gift boxes, paper gift bags and other gift packaging products like brand

ed ribbon, organza bags, gift-wrap and tissue paper. We custom make all our gift packaging products to customer requirements, and have the capability to manufacture plain, printed and personalized products with a variety of finishes. Some of our very popular products include:

Plain or branded paper gift bags (rope handle bags)

Printed or plain coloured gift tissue paper
Plain and personalized gift-wrap
Cardboard gift boxes, including wine, jewellery, and regular gift boxes

What makes our company so unique is the fact that we are able to help start-up businesses or small SMME’s as well as large corporate companies with their gift packaging. We are able to do orders for branded gift boxes from as little as 30 boxes but our factory is capable of doing 1250 boxes per week on current staff capacity. Due to the fact that we have pre trained staff on standby we are able to increase this capacity instantly to over 4000 per week.

Our manufacturing facility comprises of over 200 m2 with only 50m2 of this used as admin and showroom floor space. We have production lines set up for various styles of gift boxes, and gift

bags that are run on a continual basis. Our ladies are experts at what they do.

Our services consist of finishing of packaging (adding ribbon, or packing of products on behalf of our customers) for functions, or product launches. We employ rural women and under supervision we train them and have them complete jobs such as the Ferrero Rocher Christmas ribbon campaign, the Mug and Bean Friendship awareness ribbon campaigns or simply wrapping gifts on behalf of corporate companies.

About The Owner and her staff

The owner of The Packaging Source cc Sonja Marnewick, started her career in the corporate world in 1990 and as a professional, working with other individuals and corporate companies ranging from Healthcare, Information Technology, Human Resources and also in the marketing and manufacturing industries. Exposure to such a wide variety of industries enabled her to be sensitive to the needs of small as well as large corporate companies, and the people that work for them.

Sonja had the pleasure of co-authoring published books on accounting and information technology, and has designed numerous websites for a wide variety of clients. Her lifelong interest in crafts, arts and design combined with her entrepreneurial spirit made her the perfect candidate to enter the personalized gift packaging arena in 2006. After doing trial runs, market research and training, The Packaging Source cc was born in 2007 as a one woman operation, but with hard work and

dedication, she soon grew The Packaging Source into one of the largest and most popular gift box - and gift packaging manufacturing companies in South Africa.

Today (2012) The Packaging Source cc consists of the following divisions with their staff members:

Sales Division

Our sales division consist of 3 ladies, doing front of house (or general showroom) sales, as well as quoted branded corporate sales.

Manufacturing Division

Run by our factory manager, the factory team consist of ladies working on our branded and plain gift bags as well as all our gift boxes. Our Factory team consist of a permanent team of 7 workers (excluding the manager), but we do have seasonal workers that increase our team to up to 25 members during our busy months from September to December each year.

Ribbon Manufacturing

Run by our full time Ribbon Team Manager we have a team that consist of 20 rural seasonal workers that assist in manufacturing our ribbon orders.

Most of our products are manufactured in-house, some are sourced locally from other manufacturers, and some we import from abroad to give you, our valued customer the biggest

possible variety, competitively priced but with the best possible quality. As the manufacturing of our products require skill and training, we invest time and money in both our full time and part time employees, ensuring continuing contracts to the part time employees for the future due to the time and effort invested in training.

Administration and Dispatch

Our Admin team consist of 4 permanent employees dealing with our accounts and dispatching of orders. We have a full time Driver, but also make use of couriers to send customer orders to various destinations across SA and Africa.

We did not lose sight of our humble beginnings and still strive to give each of our customers the personal attention they deserve. Today we thrive on visiting and meeting with our new and existing clients to discuss their individual gift packaging requirements.
